Have you always been creative and what’s the earliest work you can remember creating?
Always. I was a musician (french horn) until I had children and found stitchwork.
What's your studio like and how do you keep organised?
I have the whole sunny third floor of my home. One side is computer work and sewing machines and books, the other is my print table and surface design supplies.
Where do you look for inspiration?
Outside. Travel to new places. Cities full of people and art. Nature in all its glory.
Whats in your pencil case / camera bag?
I custom made my purse with a purpose built art kit. Gridded moleskin sketchbook. Plain sketchbook. Black ink pens, fountain pen, tech mechanical pencils and erasers. On the inside is a textiles such with an embroidery project and an electronics such with chargers, earbuds and cables. And dark chocolate. Always dark chocolate.
Any tips for someone suffering from creative block?
1. Read something.
2. Walk.
3. Clean your creative space.
4. Start making something. Make 15 minutes of purposefully bad art. Then just keep working.
The muse only shows up when you are already doing the work.
Do you do any other crafts and what are your hobbies?
The thing I enjoy the most is convincing others that they CAN be artists!
I sew clothing and cosplay, read sci fi and fantasy lit, and love, love, love to travel.
