When did you first start knitting / crocheting and where did you learn?
My mom taught me when I was 5.
Can you remember the first thing you made?
A dolly blanket.
Who are your favourite pattern designers and celebrity knitters & crocheters?
Even though my designs are very simple I love Nora Gaughan for her details. I also love the inventiveness of Sandra Backlund.
What are your favourite things to stitch and do you have a favorite item you've made?
I love to make big pieces, but lately have only had the time for short & sweet projects. One favorite item I've made is "A Smart Cardigan" a piece I designed for my old yarn shop in Chicago, Knit 1. What makes it my favorite are some of the details like a kitchener bind off on the ribbing and the buttons/button closures I crocheted. It's not an easy pattern though and I've had a modified version on my needles for over a year now! Never enough time!
What music/podcasts/TV shows do you love to stitch along to?
What ever my husband is watching/listening too. Sounds lame but I don't really care what's on, once I'm into my work it's very easy for me to tune things out.
Do you do any other crafts and what are your hobbies?
Sewing now & then with my daughters. I miss doing metal smith work. Knitting/crochet has taken over my life! I love to ride my motorcycle, it helps clear my head and when I have the time I enjoy taking care of my sister's horse, he's so calm it's a great stress reliever!
