When did you first start crafting and how did you learn?
I started at a very young age, my French grandma is very artistic and she introduced me to many different types of arts and crafts over the years.
Can you remember the first thing you made?
Yes...when I was 5 or 6 I made a stuffed cat from a red knee high sock that went from a pair to a single. I never knew what happened to the other sock but I kept that cat for a very long time.
Where do you look for inspiration?
Inspiration is everywhere...it's all a matter of perspective. It could be in a new design on a box of cereal, an add in a magazine, a lyric from a song, etc. You just never know where inspiration could be lurking so you should always keep an eye out.
What's your craft space like and how do you organize your supplies?
I took over my eldest sons bedroom when he left home. It has most everything I need in there...my desk, piled high with projects, a vintage metal cabinet from my Grandmas old home, my computer desk, and shelves and shelves of goodies.
When our youngest son left home I took over his room for the overflow...it's also filled with shelves of goodies just waiting to be turned into art.
I have an affinity for vintage paper ephemera so it takes up a good amount of space.
What music/podcasts/TV shows do you love to craft along to?
I set my radio to 80's Big Hair bands. They don't make music like that anymore....does that make me sound old? LOL!!
Do you do any other crafts and what are your hobbies?
Oh my, I dabble in all sorts of crafts...wood working, crochet, I collect vintage post cards, vintage dictionaries, old ledgers, etc. I like adult coloring books and I am also an AVID reader...I can't go to sleep at night without reading a few chapters of the latest book. Mysteries are my favorite, Janet Evanovich, Jonathan Kellerman, James Patterson, Laura Childs and more.
Is there anything else you'd like to add?
Enjoy art as often as you can...remember there is no right or wrong as long as you enjoy it. Art is to be shared...not hidden or hoarded.
