Emma Jean Jansen

I started sewing when I was a young girl. I was lucky to have a mother who was always sewing, not just quilts but lots of our clothes too. I helped her with her patchwork, advising on colour and helping to cut out squares for her quilts, with scissors of course there were no rotary cutters in those days. My mum was always patient with me and helped me learn any craft I showed an interest in. She would be called an enabler these days.

I made my first patchwork cushion cover at 9 and from that young age I was hooked! It was hand pieced and hand quilted. I also created felt mice, designed and made my own cross stitches.

I love Jen Kingwell's patterns, they are full of such amazing colour combinations and I am a big fan of Alison Glass and her range of Handcrafted fabrics. They are so different and gorgeous!

I live at my parents house in a room downstairs that is not connected internally to the house. I have everything in that room including my bed, couch and all my sewing stuff. It's lucky I am organised and tidy otherwise I couldn't work in that area.

I will watch anything and everything while I am sewing. I especially love crime shows!

I do love to crochet and also creating mosaic pieces. Unfortunately I don't get much time because I have to design quilts to make my living!
