When did you first start making jewelry and how did you learn?
I started out making earrings for myself and my friends as a teenager. I bought beads and findings by mail order and sat down with a craft magazine and off I went.
Can you remember the first piece you made?
No, it's too long ago now. Definitely earrings, but no idea what they were.
Where do you look for inspiration?
Everywhere! Sometimes the beads tell me what they'd like to be, sometimes I start with an idea of what I want to make and work from there and sometimes a piece of fabric or picture will inspire a design.
What's your craft space like and how do you organize your supplies?
Bead embroidery is the thing I do most of now but also quite a bit of beadweaving. I have a craft room upstairs that is unfortunately used as a junk room so I end up crafting at the dining table or, more usually, on the sofa. I'm in the process of converting the garage into a beading studio where I plan to work and teach.
What music/podcasts/TV shows do you love to craft along to?
Not really. I always have to have the television on as I can't stand to bead without something else to focus on too but it doesn't really matter what is on. Usually any American cop show.
Do you do any other crafts and what are your hobbies?
Card making, x-stitch, baking and cake decorating. I like to read, watch movies and play games on my Kindle.
Is there anything else you'd like to add?
My FB page may be the best place to catch me for a while as I am in the process of trying to find a way to work with the new EU VAT regulations so have had to remove all my digital tutorials from Etsy and Craftsy.
