What are your hobbies?

I've been trying to improve my photography skills for the last year and I'm very lucky to have a beautiful city like Edinburgh on my doorstep to head out into. I also like to try my hand at web development but my skills are a bit rusty!

What are your favorite crafts and what's your craft space like?

I love upcycling items into a quirky piece of homeware. It's great starting the day with a collection of junk and within a couple of hours creating something that makes your home unique.

I'm also a massive fan of sewing sock animals - a few years ago my boyfriend bought me a sock animal book and a pack of male socks for valentines day. Unfortunately I opened the socks first and had to try very hard to hide the disappointment on my face whilst he smirked away. I've don't think I've ever been so chuffed with a prezzie than when I opened up that book, it's the best Valentines present he has ever given me and it's what has inspired me to start sharing my crafts with others!

What do you craft along to?

Hollyoaks - you can do any craft whist Hollyoaks in on and not miss out too much on the storyline!

What was the first project you ever made?

Wow...this take me back. I am one of 4 children and when we were little our mum gave us one wall of the playroom each and told us we could decorate it however we wanted. My brothers covered theirs in paint (I remember Gotham City being in there somewhere) but my mum and I worked hard on planning my wall.

One of my favourite children's poems was about a squirrel "Whiskey Friskey" so we used that as our inspiration. We painted a massive tree trunk and grass, then went out for an autumn walk to collect as many leaves as we could, gluing them on the trunk once dried out. To top it off we made a material squirrel to glue next to the tree and wrote the lyrics to the poem on the wall!

It brings back the biggest smile to my face when I think about it and I can't thank my mum enough for my crafty skills!!

What are your favorite items to make?

My favourite projects are when the idea starts with a friend asking "Could you make something for someone who likes...". I love googling for inspiration and then figuring out what I could use to make a unique gift BUT the very best bit is seeing the look on your friends face when you come back with your crazy idea!

Which other craft blogs do you love to read?

craftfail.com - it's nice to see the real world of crafts because we all have a disaster every now and again

http://www.designsponge.com/ - gorgeous site and loads of fab tutorials

Is there anything else you'd like to add?

Try your hand at new things every once and a while, you might be surprised at the variety of crafts you can do! I've challenged myself to try and learn 1 new craft every month this year so it will be interesting to see how many disasters I have by the end of the year...I might start keeping a running count.
