When did you first get in to cooking and do you remember the first recipe you tried?
I first starting cooking with my mom when I was very young. I think the first recipe I ever tried by myself was some type of cookies, mostly likely slice and bake. Since then, I have learned so much from her and from doing research and experimenting myself. I love throwing together a bunch of random ingredients to make a healthy and tasty dish.
What's your kitchen like and how do you keep organized when cooking?
My kitchen is very clean. I can't go to bed unless all the counters are wiped down and the chairs are pushed in. I like to know where everything is and I keep most of the dry goods in containers and jars rather than bags since I can get clumsy sometimes and spill.
What tips would you give to someone wanting to become a better cook?
Experiment! There are so many dishes I have literally had to throw out because they turned out disgusting, but I always learned something and was able to improve for the next time.
Who would you invite to your dream dinner party and what would you cook for them?
This is such a tough question, so I'm gonna take the easy way out. In college I had a few nights where I got all my best friends together for a themed potluck. In the fall we did a pumpkin themed night that was a big hit!
Do you do any other crafts and what are your hobbies?
I used to make my own jewelry and really want to get back into that. I will be looking for an apartment in Philadelphia when I get back in June and I have a TON of DIY projects on my Pinterest that I can't wait to try out. Besides cooking and crafting, my other passion is fitness and healthy eating. I love weight training, yoga, and trying different classes when I get the chance.
