Instructions

  1. Small 116269 2f2017 04 10 094446 img 1592

To make a bow-tie you'll need a zipper long enough to fit your neck and two contrasting 10" zippers. With the two 10" zippers zipped up, cut the top 3" with the zip pull off each zipper and place to one side.

  2. Small 116269 2f2017 04 10 094704 img 1594

Take the remaining 7" of each zipper and carefully unzip one of them. Pin either side of the opened zipper, with the toothed edge facing out, along the top and bottom of the closed zipper.

  3. Small 116269 2f2017 04 10 094721 img 1596

    Sew in place.

  4. Small 116269 2f2017 04 10 115138 img 1600

Repeat these steps for the 3" pieces of zipper.

  5. Small 116269 2f2017 04 10 115057 img 1598

Pin the two ends of the zip together to create a loop.

  6. Small 116269 2f2017 04 10 115128 img 1599

    Stitch in place.

  7. Small 116269 2f2017 04 10 115216 img 1604

Pin the loop in the middle of the long zipper, so that it lies flat.

  8. Small 116269 2f2017 04 10 115305 img 1605

Wrap the 3" strip around the loop and zipper, so that it squeezes the loop into a nice bow the zip pull sitting nicely at the front of the bow-tie. Pin the open edges at the bottom and sew in place.

  9. Small 116269 2f2017 04 10 115503 img 1606

Finally sew either end of a velcro strip to the back of the long zipper for your neck.

Trim off any loose threads and it's ready to wear!
