Yummy Veggie Burgers!

Don't blame me if you get addicted.. These burgers owe their great taste to my secret ingredient..!

I tried this, substituting oats to breadcrumbs and it was just as delicious!

You Will Need (12 things)

  • 5-6 Garlic Cloves
  • Burger Buns
  • 1 cup Sweet Corn Kernels
  • 1 tspn Cumin powder/ cumin seeds
  • 2 tblspns Olive Oil
  • ground Black Pepper to taste
  • Salt to taste
  • Ketchup
  • 8-10 Mushroom(s) chopped
  • 5-6 large slices of Bread or 2&1/2 cups of bread crumbs
  • 1 large Potato skinned
  • 1 large Carrot skinned

Steps (26 steps, 50 minutes)

    Defrost the sweetcorn, chop the mushrooms and mince the garlic

    Heat oil in a pan (Look at the half moon shape the oil has formed in the pan. wow!)

    Add the cumin powder... (my secret ingredient!)

    [If you are using the cumin seeds pound them well and add]

    ...and the garlic and sauté for 2 minute.

    Add the mushrooms. Let it cook for 2 minute and release its water content

    Now add the corn.

    Sauté for 1 more minute till the corn is heated up.

    Add the salt... and the pepper(I skipped the pepper)

    Sauté for another minute so that all the flavours are well blended

    This will be too hot to work with you hands just now. Let us prepare the binding ingredients while we wait for our veggies to cool.

    Grate the potato..

    ...and the carrot

    Bread is our important binder. I made home-made breadcrumbs but if you have the store-brought one you can use it.

    Check that the mushroom-corn mixture has cooled completely. Assemble all the parts of your burger.

    Toss in the grated vegetables and mix well.

    Next, add the bread crumbs (not all at once or it will be difficult to mix). We have to work with a little at a time. I added half of the total quantity first.

    NOW its time to say goodbye to your dear spoon and get your hands dirty!

    Mix well and add the rest of the crumbs.

    Shape them into patties. This recipe makes about 7-8 patties depending on the size

    Hear are all my loving hand shaped patties <3 . Its now time to devour them... one by one...

    Heat oil in a pan

    Place the patties in the pan.

    While its cooking let us prepare the buns. You can use any topping sauce. I used Mayo and a little(I mean a lot) of ketchup. I added a slice of cucumber which is my favourite burger-buddy (is that even a word??)

    Speaking of cucumbers ..

    ... would you believe the size of the cucumbers that grow in our backyard?

    coming back to the patties .. flip them over after they have turned a golden brown.

    Assemble everything.. I was out of cheese and the lettuce *sad face* but they still tasted yummy!

    You can freeze the remaining patties for up to a week
