You can embroider balsa wood to make your own wooden brooch. This one has the shape of a diamond.
Print out the template, put it onto your piece of balsa wood and pinch holes into all corner points using a needle.
Embroider the pattern.
Cut along the edges using a cutter and a ruler. Glue a pin to the back of the brooch.
