A simple tutorial on how to etch wooden utensils for yourself or a great house warming gift.
Gather all your supplies and make a clean work space for yourself. Wood burning kits can be purchased from Michael's craft store or WalMart. The wooden spoons can be purchased from any place with a home goods section, please make sure they are unfinished wood.
Start by tracing your design in pencil-- feel free to trace templates or designs. If you don't have a template, print out whatever design you want and place it over your wooden item. By tracing over the design with a fair amount of pressure the soft wood should be left with an indent of your design. Make sure you are using a pencil, a pen will bleed on the wood.
Carefully etch the wood where your design is laid, make sure you are in a room where you can crack a window and put on a fan as you work.
That's it your finished!
