Based on Wire Wrapped Tree Of Life Ornament by Lisa H.
Saw the how-to on these, and just had to make one!
This is my first one, to be given to one of my best friends.
I decided to make it larger and fuller than the how-to I based it off of. In doing so, I made 15 strands for the roots (which, when doubled gave me 30 wires to deal with!). I just eyeballed the length I thought I would need, and plugged in whatever beads I thought went well with the overall idea. I liked using different sizes of beads, gave it more variety.
For all of the things needed, I had most of them already on hand. I had seed beads from when I was littler and thought they would fit on a hemp necklace (oh how dumb...). Dad had the tools, so I just had to buy the ring and the wire. The hardest thing to find in the store was the ring. No one in the craft store I went to knew where it was, so if you're wondering, I found mine in the leather section, for some odd reason. There were three different sizes of rings, and I decided to go with the medium, as I wanted my friend to be able to hang it on her wall, but not be too large.
*Quick Tip: Make sure that you start at the bottom, after twisting it into a trunk, when you make your lowest branch on one side, don't neglect the other side. I ended up having to add another strand to the roots (I just twisted them together since I couldn't really tell that the roots were braided) in order to have another low branch on the opposite side. Don't just take one side all the way around, you'll find that your lowest branch on the opposite side of where you started is actually the topmost branch! (let me know if this makes any sense!)*
This is my first post, so feel free to leave some comments below!
Thanks!
