I went for the kaitree style - no beads, just metal. Tried it at first with 1.5mm iron rods, which was a complete disaster. The version shown is my second try, a birthday gift for my dear mom, using 1 mm aluminium wire. Used a piece of pink soapstone as a base for the tree. I'd be pleased to know what you think of it...
