Description

Convert a boring old bauble into a snowy winter scene to hang on your tree.

Instructions

  1. Small 1

Light a candle and hold the bauble slightly over the flame. A dent should start to form; stick the skewer in to pierce the plastic.

  2. Small 2

Continue burning until your desired size and shape of hole is dented in. Use all-purpose scissors to cut out this area while it is still soft and pliable. Heat the edges of the hole on the flame and bend them in, but be careful not to burn your fingers.

  3. Small 3

Paint the bauble white, inside and out. I found it easiest to paint when the bauble was not resting on any surface - I tied it to a chopstick taped to a lamp. Necessity is the mother of invention, right?

  4. Small 5

Press some air dry clay (I used paper clay) into the base of the ornament, creating a flat surface.

  5. Small 6

Ensure that your figure can stand and is at your desired height, and press it into the clay slightly to create footprints, keeping your desired positioning for when you glue it in. Allow to dry.

  6. Paint the inside of the bauble again, to even out the colour of the clay and the bauble background.

  7. Decorate the inside of your ornament as desired.

  8. Small 7

Add some braid around the edge of the hole to cover the raw edge.

  9. Small p1170467

Glue your plastic animal into the footprints you made.
