for all the spice wimps out there like me ;D
My mom and dad love spicy food, but whenever I eat pico de gallo, i have to swallow three cups of water per bite. So anyone out there who loves tomatoes and stuff, but can't handle jalapenos, this is the recipe's for you.

  • Step 1

cut onion in 4 pieces, chop 1 of the quarters up finely, if you're a super wimp, use scallions (white and green) instead. peel and chop garlic into tiny pieces. Take out the seeds from the two tomatoes and chop them up. Put onions, garlic and tomatoes in a small-medium bowl.

  • Step 2

Add vinegar before dry stuff so they will dissolve more easily. Add sugar, then salt. Serve with Santitas corn chips, they're my favorite :D

My boyfriend hates food that is too spicy, but he LOVES Mexican food. I really should make this for him!!
I know what you mean by pico de gallo being spicy, haha. When I worked at a Mexican restaurant, they would make it with a TON of cilantro and it would make the kitchen smell SO good. I eat it just for the cilantro, even with the extra spice.

For the record, I've never heard of *any* pico de gallo being spicy. It's just some chopped tomato, onion, and cilantro, plus maybe a little lemon or lime juice. I've never encountered any with hot peppers in it, that's always in a separate dish. *Salsa* can be hot, for sure, and I'm not a fan of that, I much prefer mild and to have all my taste buds tasting all my food! lol.

Tip - I've found that with hot foods, milk is better than water at cooling your mouth down. (Of course, you have to like it and not be allergic to it. Personally, I love the stuff.) I should definitely try this recipe though.
