Brush your hair and part it. Starting on the right-hand side, take a 2.5cm section and split it into three.
Start forming a waterfall plait. Waterfall Plait Brush all of your hair back and away from your face. If you have a fringe, you can leave it out. To start, take a 2.5 to 5cm section of hair from the left side of your head and split it into three equal parts. Begin plaiting by crossing section 1 over 2 and then section 3 over 1. Add in hair from the top of your head to section 2 and then cross it over section 3. Next, instead of crossing section 1 over 2, drop it out and pick up a new piece of hair from just behind it. Cross this over section 2 and continue plaiting. Only add in hair from the top, and drop out the bottom piece as you go, remembering to pick up a new piece from behind it. When you reach the right side, stop adding in hair, finish off the waterfall plait, and secure with the hairband.
Once you’ve reached the lower left side, pull your hair into a ponytail and secure with a hair band, but leave the waterfall sections loose.
Scoop up the waterfall sections and twist them into the ponytail.
If you have any shorter layers on the first few waterfall sections, use bobby pins to secure them in place. Gently tease or backcomb the ponytail and pin into a messy bun. TOP TIP Angle the plait diagonally from the top right of your head down towards the lower left side. You can stretch out your waterfall plait and pull it down to make it appear more diagonal. This style looks great with larger sections, as shown here, or you could do a very fine waterfall plait across as well.
