Description

This is a super easy project that allows one to get really creative both with color and with drawing faces! Several of these portraits can be created in order to achieve different looks, facial features, etc.

Instructions

  1. Small 113719 2f2016 03 18 132200 step1 watercolorportrait jennifermccully

For this project, I used Arches Rough 80 lb. Watercolor Paper. Although I used watercolor paint for this project, you can also use some watered down acrylic paint as well if that is what you have on hand. Start this portrait off by simply making a mark on the paper. Adding a color of your choice and building from there! Don't be afraid to add some drips as well!

Once the first layer of paint dried, I then added more colors to the mix as well as a few splatters and more drips!

When the paint was completely dry, I did a rough pencil sketch of a girl's face just to get an idea of where I wanted the head/face to be placed on the paper. When I was happy with the placement, I then traced the lines I had started with a black Sharpie marker. I continued to add additional lines/marks to the portrait by giving her a little freckle and adding thickness to some of the lines of her curls.

    You're done!
