  • How to make a collar / bib. Vintage Inspired Collar - Step 1
    Step 1

Start by cutting out your pattern. I had an original 1950s collar I used for mine but you could also use a shirt collar that you have laying around for your pattern.

    Step 2

    Cut 2.

  • Step 3

Decide how you would like to embellish your collar. I wanted mine to be gothic so I sewed beads on in the shape of a cross on both ends. But you could add lace, ribbon or sequince, the sky is the limit.

    Step 4

To further embellish my collar I added strips of sequince and left the end hang out at the bottom.

  • Step 5

Next you're going to sew your top and bottom pieces together. Sew them together by keeping the short ends open and then turning inside out. (I did this all by hand but you can use your machine as well.

  • Step 6

After flipping your collar inside out sew the open seams shut and sew in a hook and eye on either side. I also top sewed my collar to keep it flat.
