I bought this Maylene and the Sons of Disaster shirt recently because it was red. I don't really have any red shirts so I had to get it! The fabric was really thick and I don't like that :/ So I researched some ideas online and found some techniques of which I have combined and altered to fit my situation. This actually takes over 3 days! So be patient :) Combining the two shirts can get testy too

Instructions

This is what I had to start with. As I stated before the fabric was really thick and course. I also put another shirt with this in as well (I'm combining the two later in the steps)

  2. Find a bucket (I used a trash can ha). Fill it with 8.5 cups of hot water. -3 cups of sea salt -3 tablespoons of lemon juice -3 tablespoons of hydrogen peroxide Stir it well! (Some websites had users mix a bit of bleach and polish remover into the solution too but I think those might be too harsh so I didn't use them)

  3. Place your shirt in and make sure that it's completely saturated so as no pieces will float up later. I mixed the shirts around for a bit so that the mixture would soak into the fabric.

  4. Now here comes the tricky part. At least for me, being that I'm rather impatient... Wait for 3 days! I stored mine behind a nightstand in the corner. Every now and then I moved the shirts around.

  5. On the second day I mixed a cup of fabric softener into the solution. This will soften the fabric (kind of a no brainer, huh?) and it'll make it easier to work with later.

  6. On the third day, wring your shirt out. Then let it dry in the sunlight. Because it's been raining here I couldn't do that so I dried mine in the bath tub. If you do this, then the shirt won't have that aged/faded kind of look.

Once it's dry that's when the work really begins. I found this to be the easiest and cheapest. I sometimes rock climb with friends and on the way to a site, I saw a really pretty rough and smooth rock. So I pocketed it and used it on my shirts.

Take whatever you're using, turn the shirt inside out and rub away! I was very vigorous. Except where the graphic was because it made to look aged. The first half of the shirt I haven't touched, the second I have. I hope you can see the difference, my camera didnt pick that up too well. Do this A LOT. I got serious carpal tunnel so take breaks and switch hands, dont be stubborn like me haa

  9. After you've done this, you can go over certain areas again to add more distress. Then wash it again! It's going to be realllyyyyy soft afterwards The key is fabric softener fyi :) Now onto the baseball tee.

Sorry I didn't take progress pictures, I have never made a baseball shirt before so I didn't want to mess this up. Okay so take your shirt that you want to be the body and do as I did in this picture. Cut along the dotted lines.

Now take the other shirt and lay it underneath. Where you cut the first shirt, you want to make lines for the one below it. This will be your seam line for later. Once again, I apologize for these paint pictures :(

  12. The best way to do this, is to fold the body shirt underneath the seam of the sleeve shirt. Then pin those together! All around, the arm pit gave me the most trouble so if you end up like I did, just fit the sleeve a bit and the problem will be resolved

You should pretty much see a baseball tee developing! So stitch it up and wear it around!
