While this won't work in an actual viewmaster, it is a neat way to add an interactive element to your scrapbooks, smash books, cards, or even a 4 x4 pocket for project life!

Instructions

  1. Small 102679 2f2014 06 18 092232 img 3568

Cut out a viewmaster template from cardstock. The one I am using is a TIm Holtz Sizzix die. There are other dies like this available also you could print out a template from the internet and cut one out by hand.

Next you'll need a photo index print. Mine came with the roll of film I developed but there is also an option to print an index on the photo kiosk at Walgreens. Maybe other places too but Walgreens I know for sure.

Cut out the tiny pictures leaving some extra paper to tape to the viewmaster reel.

Tape the photos to the back of the reel with some acid free washi tape, or the tape of your choice. Be sure that the picture is lined up in the window and trim any parts that stick out.

Once all of the photos have been taped down, attach the reel to your scrapbook page with a brad or an eyelet. The wheel rotates! You can attack it so that it hangs over the edge to make it easier to spin. In this case you might want to cut out a second viewmaster reel but without the windows to glue to the back to cover all the tape!

Optional Steps: Be sure not to attach anything directly on the reel if you want it to rotate. If you want to add something that overlaps the reel use adhesive foam squares to prop the overlapping item up so that the reel can still rotate.

Time to show off your photo reel!
