Victorian Bustled Evening Dresses
My daughter Rachel was in an am dram group who put on a Victorian Music Hall. I had the job of making her and her siniging teacher's costumes. Both look like dresses but were in fact tops and skirts mashed up from three different patterns (see pics). Bought really cheap polyester satin from Ebay - about £2.99 per metre (needed 17 metres per costume with a contrast colour lining the skirt. Made two bustle pads stuffed with offcuts of dress netting and Rachel is seen wearing hers. Lindsay the singing teacher refused to wear the pad oas she said it made her bum look big (thought that was the point but heyho she's entitled to feel good in it) and she did improve hers by sewing on a fab black lace panel she found in a charity shop so I'll let her off!
