As far as I know, I can up with this idea all on my own. I haven't seen it anywhere else. I have a bunch of yarn and had some old glowstick bracelets lying around so I decided to put them to good use. This is my first tutorial so I hope everyone enjoys it! Sorry if it was a little confusing when I was explaining the staircase part. I'm not good at explaining things :/ I hope to see others trying this out!

Description

As far as I know, I can up with this idea all on my own. I haven't seen it anywhere else. I have a bunch of yarn and had some old glowstick bracelets lying around so I decided to put them to good use. This is my first tutorial so I hope everyone enjoys it! Sorry if it was a little confusing when I was explaining the staircase part. I'm not good at explaining things :/ I hope to see others trying this out!

Instructions

  1. Small img 0277

Choose a nice color you would like the bracelet to be. I choose a pretty mix of green, blue, and white. Cut a nice long piece of string, maybe about 3 yards or longer.

  2. Small img 0278

Take the piece of string and insert it into the little connector piece from the glow bracelet.

  3. Small img 0279

Grab the glowstick and push it about halfway through the connector piece. Make sure the yarn does not come out. You want to make sure that it is snug and will not fall out.

  4. Small img 0280

In this step, you will begin the actual design on the bracelet. It is called a Chinese Staircase. It is actually pretty easy but if you don't know how to do it I will show you or you can search it on Google. Take your piece of yarn and make a 4 shape with it on top of the glowstick. If you don't understand, look at the picture.

  5. Small img 0281

Next, take the end of the yarn that is not in the connector, wrap it around the glowstick, and pull it through the space between the yarn and glowstick.

  6. Small img 0282

Push the yarn against the bottom of the connector piece pull it tight.

  7. Small img 0283

Continue steps 4-6. Eventually, the yarn will start to spiral into a staircase pattern.

  8. Small img 0289

You can twist the yarn depending on how far apart/close you want the spirals to be.

  9. Small img 0284

Once you get near the bottom, check to see where you will need to stop so you will have room to put the other end of the bracelet into the connector. Tie a knot and cut off any excess yarn so there is about 1 in. - 1 and 1/2 inches left.

  10. Small img 0285

Grab your hot glue gun and squeeze some glue into the connector. You will want to try to get glue all the way down to the other end of the connector so the whole bracelet will not come apart. Push the other end of the bracelet into the connector all the way so it meets the other end of the bracelet.Hold it for a few seconds or until the glue dries.

Tada! All done :) Slide your it onto your wrist and show off your new recycled bracelet!
