a simple way to add style and edge to your t-shirts!
i wanted to make my t-shirt stand out, as it was just plain brown and boring.
i literally just started messing around and experimenting on scraps of material and came up with this! several of my t-shirts now have something similar to this.

    this is the starting point. decide which part of it you want to up cycle.

    for the sleeves:
    cut into the fabric 6cm in width, and with 1in gap between each cut. carry on all the way down the sleeves.

    take the first strip of fabric and pull it over the second. then pull the second over the third, and so on and so on until you reach the bottom. hand sew the bottom strip to the cuff to secure the sleeve.

    this creates a chain link effect down the sleeve.

    for the back:
    starting at the top, cut through the fabric, 10in in width with 1in gap between each cut. as you work your way down, decrease the cut width by half an inch. the bottom cut should be 3in in width.

    on the left side of the cuts, take the FIRST strip of fabric and pull it over the THIRD, then pull the THIRD over the FIFTH and so on and so on until the bottom.
    on the right side, pull the SECOND strip over the FORTH and the FORTH over the SIXTH and so on and so on until the bottom.
    hand stitch the bottom to secure the back.
