Step 1
Begin by creating a side part on the left side. Then, section off a portion of hair from the part down to the left ear. Clip off the front portion of hair with a duckbill clip.
Step 2
Repeat the previous step with the hair on the right side, clipping off the forward portion of hair with a duck-bill clip.
Step 3
Comb through the back portion of hair, spray it with hairspray, and comb through it once more. Now tie the hair into a low ponytail with a clear elastic band.
Step 4
Pull the ponytail slightly loose and create a gap in the hair directly above the elastic. Then loop the ponytail upwards, through the gap, into an upside-down topsy tail so the ponytail goes up and out of the gap.
Step 5
Comb through the ponytail, mist it with hairspray, and comb through it once more to smooth down any flyaways. Tie a clear elastic over the end of the ponytail a few inches up from the bottom.
Step 6
Lift up the top part of the ponytail and pin the hair against the head, just above the topsy tail.
Step 7
Take the bottom part of the ponytail, at the elastic, and roll the hair up underneath itself to create the looped bun.
Step 8
Pin down the bun, sliding the pins in horizontally so they are hidden under the bun.
Step 9
Let down the hair that’s clipped on the right side. Smooth it down by combing through it, misting it with hairspray, and combing through it again. Then twist the hair upwards and lay it across the top of the bun.
Step 10
Wrap the twist around the left side of the bun, pinning it down, sliding the pin inwards under the bun.
Step 11
Let down the hair that’s clipped on the left side. Smooth it down by combing through it, misting it with hairspray, and combing through it again. Then twist the hair upwards and lay it across the top of the bun.
Step 12
Wrap the twist around the right side of the bun. Pin down the end of the twist, hiding the pin under the bun. Liberally spray the style with hairspray to set it and ensure that it stays in place all day or evening.

Updo Extras
After twisting the side sections, gently pull on the edges to create a softer, fuller twist before wrapping them over the bun.
