Treacle Steamed Pudding
A lovely desert.
Easy to make using an electric mixer or by hand.
No special tools required.
Grease the pudding bowl.
melt 50g of butter with 50g of sugar.
Add the lemon juice & zest.
Pour into the bottom of the prepared bowl.
Beat the remaining butter & sugar together until creamy.
Add the eggs, one at a time.
Beat well with each addition.
Add the treacle.
Add the flour
Pour into the prepared bowl.
Cover with a sheet of greaseproof paper.
Then cover with a layer of foil.
Tie up with string as tight as you can to prevent water from getting in.
Place in a pan with water ( 3/4 up the bowl).
Steam for 2 hours.
Check regularly to ensure the water doesn't dry up.
Remove from pan & carefully tip onto a serving plate.
Serve warm with ice cream.
