  • How to cut-up a top. Transform Your T Shirt *Simple* - Step 1
    Step 1

Firstly, get any kind of top that your bored with, and cut straight down the sides from the shoulders, leaving both sides free.

Then, using a cheese grater or one of those fork thread breakers (anyone know the name of them please?) grate the sides of the top down to the length you would like the top to be..

Once you have grated the sides and you are happy with the length , measure and inch after the grated edges and then cut across.

    Step 4

I wanted my top to stop just at my waste, so I wrapped the elastic around my waste till I was happy with the fit, added an extra half inch cut at that lenght. Then I hand sewed both ends together.

Then turn the top inside out and hem both end to the elastic. Make sure when doing this, that you only sew material to material and not sew any of the material to the elastic itself, this way you get a curtain effect on the front and back of your top, where you can push the material together or loosen it out. The elastic itself is just loose within the hem.

And there you go. You have transformed your top. Layer it over a tank top, a simple dress or even use it as beachwear and throw it over ur bikini!! :)
