A new twist on a CO&K favorite. This works with newsprint, sunday comics (I'm really excited to try this with the magic eye) Pages from word puzzle books (I get penny press market's variety puzzles like they're going out of style so I've got tons of random pages). I'm guessing it will work with anything printed with a laser printer. I saw this idea while browsing pintrest, and I saw it done with newsprint, and as many times as I've already done newsprint I figured it was time to try something new. Paint your nails white, nevermind the picture on my middle finger this picture was an after thought. I used white. You can use any color you want really, next time I'm going to try it with either silver or "Hard as nails- wet cement" I'm pretty sure I did 3 coats, but I also did dishes in the middle (it really does take me all day to paint my nails one solid color.)
You're going to want to pick out the pictures you wanna use before you get too far into it. This is part of what I picked. Cut out 10 squares (or more if you think they'll be an issue of mistakes, I didn't have a problem and this was my first try) You'll want to make them close to, but bigger than you're nail, I made mine to big so they were cumbersome.
Fill up a small container with rubbing alcohol. You don't really need that much just enough to submerge your little squares of paper. (my cup is all messy looking cause its the same one I use, and re-use for marbled nails)
Let the paper get all the way wet, then take the square out and set it on your palm...like so. With the design you want facing up. Take your finger and put your nail against the paper and press it on there real tight, wrap your hand around your finger so the paper will end up touching ever part of your nail...Now sit tight cause this takes a little bit.
in a little bit you can let go of your finger and the paper will stick. You still have to wait for it to mostly dry. I started blowing on the paper a little bit when it was still on my palm, it helped to speed it up, minimally but I'm pretty impatient all the same. The darker you want it the longer you leave it. I wouldn't suggest letting the paper dry all the way, you can, but you're going to end p with little paper flakes and stuff, it won't mess up your design getting em off, but still.
Keep going until you finish all your fingers. Since the ink is transfered because of the rubbing alcohol you should try to keep the finished ones out of the cup in the process of doing the other ones, this is where the tweezers come in handy (even if I couldn't find mine). That little mustache guy on my middle finger is my favourite. And the one next to it looks like an easter egg!
Woot time for clear coat, be careful though. I'm not sure if it was bad nail polish or what but on one of my pinky nails I did to many strokes and it smeared a little bit. Better to do a quick first coat and then a better second coat. That second coat shouldn't be able to make anything smear anyway.
And you're done. They're holding up just as good as any other nail painting has. Even before the clear coat I tried rubbing some of the ink off, it didn't work :) Other than that the only problem I had was trying to take all the pictures one handed and not getting any rubbing alcohol on my camera...cause I'm a derp, I need a second person of these kind of things for real.
