A blackboard to doodle on while doing your business

For some reason we decided that it would be fun to turn our toilet door into a blackboard. At least, partially. So I drew up a design with 1 large field within arms reach of the toilet itself and some smaller fields for funny sayings. Time mentioned for this project doesn't take into account the drying time of the paint. Follow instructions on paint can.

Description

For some reason we decided that it would be fun to turn our toilet door into a blackboard. At least, partially. So I drew up a design with 1 large field within arms reach of the toilet itself and some smaller fields for funny sayings. Time mentioned for this project doesn't take into account the drying time of the paint. Follow instructions on paint can.

Instructions

  1. Get the door out of the frame and remove the handle and hinges. Sand down the door. If it's a new door check if it has primer on it, if not make it so.

  2. You need to check if you're working on the right side of the door. We started out on the wrong side... fortunately we noticed this before we put the black paint on.

  3. Measure out and draw your design on. Tape the edges of the fields you're not going to paint yet and then paint your fields with the normal paint first.

  4. When you're finished carefully remove the paper tape. Make sure it doesn't spatter and that you don't disrupt the straight line.

  5. After everything has dried thoroughly and the paint has covered well enough you can tape over the painted fields (only the edges) and start with the blackboard paint. Use a paint roller for a smooth result.

  6. Put the door back in when it is completely dry and you're satisfied with the result.

  7. Now you can leave messages for your house mates or your visitors can enjoy a bit of drawing. ;-) Be sure to leave a crayon at hand. (Ours is on top of the light switch)
