To Write Love On Her Arms T Shirt

Running out of time for TWLOHA? Here's a quick, easy, cheap project to take care of that!

About

So, seeing as I was reminded that TWLOHA is this Friday, I haven't had time to get an official shirt from the website. So I decided, why not make my own t-shirt? I grabbed some cans of spray paint, a cardboard box, and an old t-shirt and got to work.

This is a bit like a reversed-stencil idea. The letters themselves are not filled in, but the space around them is.

Wear an old shirt, or something stainable. Spray paint doesn't come off clothing. And tie back your hair, or it'll look rather... funky.

You Will Need (4 things)

  • Tape
  • Cardboard
  • T Shirt
  • Spray Paint

Steps (4 steps, 20 minutes)

  1. 1

First, cut out some cardboard letters. Try to get the edges as smooth as possible. I used an exacto-knife for the inside of the O and scissors for the rest.

  2. 2

Go OUTSIDE. Lay the T-shirt flat and figure out where the letters will go. Once you've finally decided where you want them TAPE THEM DOWN. (I found this out the hard way.) If you don't tape them down, the pressure from the spray paint can will blow them away.

If you don't want to tape them, I guess you could pin them on.

  3. 3

Start painting. GO CRAZYYYY!!!! Use as many (or few) colours as you want, use stripes, or polka dots, or small drops. Anything, just express yourself! Make sure to cover the letters quite well.

  4. 4

Eventually, once you're happy with how it looks, take the letters off CAREFULLY. You can see here where the tape left a mark, but I'm sure that if you use double-sided tape, or pins, it'll be less likely to happen. The letters may drip, so be careful as you're throwing them out.

I would recommend drying your shirt with heat, or using an iron, inside out before wearing it or washing it.

Enjoy wearing your custom-made TWLOHA shirt!!!

And also, you can do any word, picture, symbol you want.

Let me know what you think!
