    Gather your awesome materials!

  2. Small 113583 2f2016 03 03 180205 pf2amend

To make your stamen: Cut a 1 inch strip from the end of your first sheet of tissue paper

  3. Small 113583 2f2016 03 03 180415 pf3amend

Unfold the piece lengthways and cut off a section about 4-5 inches long

  4. Small 113583 2f2016 03 03 180428 pf4amend

Snip little strips all the way along, leaving a solid border at the top. Be careful not to cut all the way up!

  5. Small 113583 2f2016 03 03 180442 pf5amend

Stick some washi tape along the solid border and turn over so the sticky side of the tape faces up

  6. Small 113583 2f2016 03 03 180456 pf6amend

Wrap the tape around your bamboo skewer…

  7. Small 113583 2f2016 03 03 180508 pf7amend

…folding and creasing the tape as you go, creating a fanned-out paper stamen…

  8. Small 113583 2f2016 03 03 180535 pf8amend

    …like this!

  9. Small 113583 2f2016 03 03 180545 pf9amend

Creating your petals: Take your second sheet of paper & cut a strip about 3-4 inches long

  10. Small 113583 2f2016 03 03 180607 pf10

Cut out two sizes of petal shapes; small and large

  11. Small 113583 2f2016 03 03 180627 pf11amend

Using your small petals, overlap them onto a piece of upturned washi tape

  12. Small 113583 2f2016 03 03 180637 pf12amend

Wrap the tape around the stamen, creasing the tape and gently fluffing the petals out as you go…

  13. Small 113583 2f2016 03 03 180703 pf13amend

…so you have something like this.

  14. Small 113583 2f2016 03 03 180715 pf14amend

Now do the same with your big petals!

  15. Small 113583 2f2016 03 03 180737 pf15amend

…or if you find it easier, you can add them individually…

  16. Small 113583 2f2016 03 03 180752 pf16amend

…moulding the tape and fluffing the petals out as you go.

  17. Small 113583 2f2016 03 03 180814 pf17amend

Continue adding petals until you reach floral perfection!

  18. Small 113583 2f2016 03 03 180828 pf18amend

If you’re feeling fancy you can even add some leaves as a finishing touch.

  19. Small 113583 2f2016 03 03 180841 pf19amend

    Ta dah!
