Tiny Bottle 'Stardust' Earrings

Little bottles of stardust to brighten up your day =)

I love tiny glass bottles, and bought some recently. I decided to make a pair of earrings with them, and chose to make them bottles of stardust, because I love stars =) I already had the rest of the materials needed, being a craft hoarder, but they are all relatively inexpensive to buy. The bottles, charms, screw eyes and jump rings can be bought off a site like Ebay or Etsy. The glitter, earring hooks and hot glue gun I had bought from craft shops (such as Hobbycraft) but you could probably get them off Ebay too. I may have nabbed the pliers from my mum =P I've tried to make the project clear and precise, with a lot of photos. This is my first proper project so I hope you all like it!

Instructions

Of course the first thing you need to do is get your supplies together. The glass bottles I used were 0.5ml - about 25mm tall.

  2. Small img 3301

You will also need pliers, a hot glue gun (mine is a mini one) and the glitter of your choice. I used a white glitter but you can use any you like =)

  3. Small img 3303

Next, simply fill the bottle with the glitter. I filled it to just slightly under the bottom of the cork.

  4. Small img 3304

Then, screw in the screw eye hook into the middle of the top of the cork.

  5. Small img 3306

Open up a jump ring with the pliers, and add on the earring hook. Leave open.

  6. Small img 3307

Attach the jump ring onto the screw eye, and close it firmly.

  7. Small img 3308

To add the star charm, open up another jump ring and add the star charm onto it. Then attach the jump ring onto the earring hook, and close it firmly.

Finally, use the hot glue gun to place some glue around the bottom edge of the cork, and place the cork into the bottle . Hold it there for a few seconds as it sets. You can remove any excess glue around the edge of the bottle with a fingernail.

Now simply repeat this process for the other bottle earring.

And there you go! The great thing about these glass bottles is you can fill them with pretty much whatever you want, it doesn't have to be glitter; you could have beads, coloured water, nail polish, or any small objects that will fit in there. You can add labels or other charms/objects onto them. Just have fun! =)
