So a hoodie, a blazer and a poncho walk into a bar... It's not anywhere near done, but the basic idea is that this coat (which will have a removable hood) is a totally new take on the classic three-season coat. And you could probably make one yourself, which is even better. UPDATE: I trimmed down the appliques on the sleeves and pinned the lining into both the hood and the left side of the underskirt. Reeeeeeeeally needing a dressmakers dummy right about now, but oh well. UPDATE 8/1: Put together the hood and it looks pretty awesome so far. Will be buying the red fleece this weekend, as well as the green lining fabric. The paisley light corduroy fabric I've pinned into the knit isn't hanging right, so I figure it'll work better with the fleece. Still wondering about the extra thin vinyl; should I go with it or boo? Also, planning to make the red half a bit longer/wider than the drab, both skirts will be reversible, and the hood doubles as a pouch for gathering berries or what have you. ABOUT THE JACKET: Size 8 or so Dry clean only (so sayeth the tags) Hood exterior is 100% acrylic, hood lining is fleece Hood can double as a pouch. Underskirt exterior (left): 100% acrylic. Lining: cotton Underskirt exterior (right): ?? Lining: fleece Underskirt can be used as a blanket; will have thin layer of vinyl for weatherproofing. Most pieces were found or already owned.
