I cut the larger pieces a bit bigger than the tutorial called for and sewed on my flaps. I initially was going to draw the design with a temporary marker and fill it in with watercolor colored pencils, but I figured the aesthetic part could wait another day. I have a print out of the thread drawing (thanks!), and I also have tracing paper and iron on pens so either way, I'll be able to easily get the design transferred. I'm super happy I stumbled across this project, and this site! You can see my (almost) finished projects in the pics I uploaded!
