I love scarves that are bulky and warm, and I love the Half Double Crochet stitch, so I put the two together to make this quick and easy scarf pattern. Brown Sheep Company gave me three skeins of their wonderful Sport Weight 100% Wool Yarn to test out and come up with a pattern to showcase it. Foundation - Holding all three colors of yarn together, Chain 70, keep it very loose. Connect to the other end other end of your chain by making sure its all laid out flat, and slip stitch into the first chain. Row 1 - Chain 2 and Half Double Crochet in each chain around. Slip stitch into the top of the first HDC. Keep it loose. Repeat Row 1 until you have a width you prefer. (I made 10 Rows) Once your done with your last row, Finish off the edge by doing a single crochet stitch all around. The slip stitch in to the first single crochet, and weave in the ends.
Next I used some yarn and my darning needle to sew in and out of width of the scarf and bunch it together to make a cute focal point.
I had a bit more yarn left, but not enough to do another whole row, so I used the Turquoise Wonder yarn and a 4.25MM hook and made a little bow to embellish my scarf. If you'd like to make a little bow here's how, Main bow Chain 22, and turn Row 1 - Half Double Crochet in the second chain from the hook, and each across, chain 2 and turn. Repeat Row 1 - 5 more times and finish off the end. For the middle of the bow strip chain 12, turn and Half Double Crochet in the second chain from the hook and each across. Cut the end of the yarn off leaving enough to use to sew on the bow. Use the middle of the bow strip to wrap around the main bow part and bunch it in the middle. Then use your long tail to sew your bow onto your scarf.
