    KIDS – S, M, L
To beg: Ch 3, sl st in third ch from hook to form a ring (or start with a magic ring)
Rnd 1: Ch 1 (does not count as a st), 5 sc in ring; do not join now and throughout = 5 sts
Rnd 2: 2 sc in first st of previous rnd, 2 sc in next 4 sts = 10 sts
    Rnds 3 – 4: Sc in each st around = 10 sts
Rnd 5: [Sc in next 4 sts, 2 sc in next st] 2 times = 12 sts
    Rnds 6 – 7: Sc in each st around = 12 sts
    Rnd 8: [Sc in next st, sc2tog] 4 times = 8 sts
Sl st in next st and fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.
    ADULTS – S, M, L
To beg: Ch 3, sl st in third ch from hook to form a ring (or start with a magic ring)
Rnds 1 – 4: Same as for Kids

    FINISHING HORN

Stuff the horn firmly, using a chopstick or the tips of scissors for pushing polyester stuffing into the horn. Wrap the long chain tail in spiral motion around the horn from the top down, applying fabric glue along the back side of the chain as you go (fig 1).

  6. 6

Once you reach the bottom edge, attach the end of the chain to the horn with a stitch marker and allow the glue to dry (fig 2).

    NOTE:
Be sure to check instructions on the glue label and test your fabric glue prior to using.

  7. 7

    Star
Make 1 for each slipper. Work
in the round with CC1, using a 3.75mm (F) hook for Kids’ sizes or 4.25mm (G) hook for adults’ sizes.
To beg: Ch 3, sl st in third ch from hook to form a ring (or start with a magic ring)
Rnd 1: Ch 1 (does not count as a st), [sc in ring, ch 3, sl st in second ch from hook, sc in next ch] 5 times; join = 5 star points
Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

  8. 8

    Finishing Slippers
Position the cheeks on each side of the slipper, approximately 1 row away from the gusset curve (fig 3). Backstitch around onto the slipper using the long CC3 tail from each cheek. Fasten off and weave in
    the ends.

  9. 9

Thread the tapestry needle with CC4 and stitch smiley eyes above the cheeks (see Useful Information: Sewing Techniques), placing the inner edge of each eye by the gusset seam (fig 4). Fasten off and weave in the ends.

  10. 10

Position the horn in the center
of the gusset by the edge and whipstitch around onto the slipper using the long CC1 tail from the horn (fig 5). Fasten off and weave in the end.

  11. 11

Position the ears right up against the horn on each side and whipstitch around the bottom edge onto the slipper using the long MC tail from each ear (figs 6 and 7).

  12. 12

Fasten off and weave in the ends.

  13. 13

To finish the mane, position the first piece with 2 spirals in front of the ear. Using the long CC2 tail, whipstitch across the raw edge
to the horn (fig 8). Fasten off and weave in the end.

  14. 14

Position the second piece with 2
spirals behind the same ear. Using
the long CC2 tail, whipstitch across
the raw edge to the slipper (fig 9).
Fasten off and weave in the end.

  15. 15

Position the star by the ear without a mane, in front or behind the ear. Using the long CC1 tail from the star, backstitch around the edge and whipstitch in each corner to keep the points of the star nice and sharp (fig 10). Fasten off and weave in the end.

Finish your second slipper in the same manner but mirroring the placement of the mane and star.
