This adorable hide-and-seek house is made from a discarded cardboard box, so your cat is sure to love it! Decorate the outside with colorful fabric and felt.
Add a fleece cushion inside for a cozy, happy space any cat would be proud to call home.

You Will Need (11 things)

  • One Cardboard Box (the one used here measured 13” L x 16” W x 9 ½ ” H [32 x 40 x 24 cm])
  • One piece of flat Cardboard (the one used here measured 13” x 16” [32 x 40 cm])
  • Red striped Fabric : Two 9 1/2” x 13” (24 x 32 cm) pieces
  • Blue striped Fabric : Two 9 ½ ” x 16” (24 x 40 cm)
  • Orange Fleece : Two 6 ¼ ” x 13” (16 x 32 cm) pieces pieces and two 6 ¼ ” x 16” (16 x 40 cm) pieces
  • Green Fleece : One 13” x 16” (32 x 40 cm) piece
  • 2 ¾ yd (2.5 m) of 5/8” (1.5 cm) wide white Lace
  • Light blue, yellow, and pink Felt
  • Utility Knife
  • Glue
  • Tape

Steps (4 steps, 120 minutes)

  1. 1

    Use a box cutter to cut out the windows. Next, trim the top flaps of the box at an angle to make the roof slanted.

    Tip: Place a cutting mat or a scrap of cardboard inside the box so you don’t damage your work surface or accidentally cut a part of the box that shouldn’t be cut.

    Trace the outline of the walls and windows onto the wrong side of the striped fabrics.
    Cut out along the traced lines. Glue the fabric to the cardboard.

    Tape the piece of flat cardboard to the bottom on the inside of the box. Glue the piece of
    green fleece to the flat piece of cardboard.

  4. 4

    Fold the roof into place and tape together on the inside of the box. Glue the lace to the roof. Use the templates to cut the flowers out of felt. Glue the flowers to the box.
