About

This was a third place winner in the Tentacle Kitty Cosplay contest at Comicpalooza 2014.

This costume is designed to specifically fit Tentacle Kitty, but with minor modifications, it could fit any plushie.

You Will Need (11 things)

  • Craft Foam
  • Toilet Paper Roll
  • Felt star stickers
  • Duct Tape Gold
  • Duct Tape silver
  • Felt Red
  • 1 ½ in wide Satin Ribbon blue
  • Fabric Paint white
  • Fabric Paint gold
  • Needle & Thread
  • Velcro

Steps (6 steps, 240 minutes)

  1. 1

Cut craft foam in the shape of Wonder Woman's tiara to fit your plushie's head (TK's head is about 16"). Use gold duct tape to cover and form into a circlet. With careful placement, seams are fairly invisible.

  2. 2

For the bracelets, take a toilet paper roll and cut it down the center the long way. Then cut 0.5" strips--for Tentacle Kitty, you will need 10. Cover each bracelet with silver duct tape, forming each strip into a circlet that fits each tentacle (about 1" around).

  3. 3

Tiara and bracelets should look like this. If a suggestion of the costume is enough, then you can stop here.

  4. 4

For the bodice, cut the red felt in a strip to fit around the body. I added a notch in front. Using gold fabric paint, carefully add the Wonder Woman symbol.

You could also embroider this bit with gold thread. You could also add an eagle for a more retro Wonder Woman look.

  5. 5

You will use the blue ribbon for the skirt. Because I couldn't find blue with stars satin ribbon, I painted white stars on the ribbon with fabric paint.

After the paint has dried, use the needle and thread to make a running stitch along the top of the ribbon to gather it to the waist circumference of your plushie.

Sew the ribbon skirt to the bodice.

  6. 6

Carefully cut some gold duct tape to cover the joining stitches of the bodice and skirt to create a belt. Add Velcro on the back for the plushie to wear comfortable.

I also cut a bit of gold embroidery thread and tacked it to the waistline for a Magic Lasso.

You and your plushie are now ready to save the world!
