Yes, cream works as well, just use more pigments.

If you're using a liquid leave in conditioner, use a 1 to 1 ratio. But if you're using a cream, I would add a little more pigment. And yes, you can store it! The liquid tends to dry out over time, but you can always add more conditioner or water
