Description

I made this for my mom for christmas. I looked at other tea wallets on the site and decided I'd sort of combine them all. Thus, my tea wallet was born! :) Enjoy.

Instructions

  1. Small 19514

Cut a 8 in. by 6 in. piece of fabric from both the outer and inner fabric. Iron on interfacing to both pieces of the same dimensions.

  2. Small 19515

Cut four 3 in. by 2 1/2 in. pieces of fabric from BOTH the outer and inner fabrics. You can choose to interface those too, for sturdier pockets.

  3. Small 19516

Cut a 6 in. by 3 in. piece and a 6 in. by 2 in. piece of inner fabric for the zippered pocket lining. There isn't a need to interface these.

  4. Small 19517

Choose a zipper of your color choice. IT MUST BE NO LESS THAN 6 IN. Remember, you can easily cut off some of the zipper, but you can't add to it.

  5. Small 19518

On the interfaced side of the outer fabric, mark a 4 1/2 in. by 1/2 in. line. Draw a line (see dotted line) down the middle, add two lines near the ends to create a triangle. Cut along these lines.

  6. Small 19519

Once those little flaps have been iron to stay open, place your zipper right side up to the "wrong" side of the outer fabric. Sew a 1/4 in. seam around the hole you've made. Make sure you're catching the zipper. DO NOT FORGET TO PULL THE ZIPPER OPEN A BIT, TO MAKE SURE YOU DONT SEW THE ZIPPER TO WHERE IT WONT OPEN!!

  7. Small 19520

This is what it should look like then turned over.

  8. Small 19521

On the inner fabric, sew the uppermost pocket on, after spacing all four, on one side, to your liking. Sew the bottom of the pocket halfway first. Then turn under the left side about a 1/4 in. and sew up. The pockets should not be sewn on the outer edges until after all have been sewn on.

  9. Small 19522

Once all pockets have been sewn on either side of the inner fabric, sew along the left and right edges, to catch the unsewn portions of the pockets.

  10. Small 19523

Place both fabrics together, right side to right side, as shown.

  11. Small 19524

Cut two pieces of coordinating ribbon the same length. Place, centered, on either side. Sew along the outermost edges. Turn right side out and iron to flatten. If you wish, for a professional look, top stitch on the outside edges once turned right side out. :) Enjoy!
