Make your stamps work for you, a leaf does not just have to be a leaf, on this card it becomes the flower petal.
Make your stamps work for you, a leaf does not just have to be a leaf, on this card it becomes the flower petal.
I began with a number 8 tag and a piece of heavy scrapbook paper, but you could use plain card. I used a brayer to add Fresco Chalk Acrylic paint ( by PaperArtsy) onto the tag and the scrapbook paper. Doing this allows for subtle blending and layering. On the painted scrapbook paper I stamped lots of leaves (from stamp set EDY13 by PaperArtsy) I also stamped some text
To the tag I added lines of stamping using a border stamp and a neautral shade of ink, between those lines I added a smaller background stamp using an even lighter colour. this adds a very subtle background effect. On a smaller piece of card I added more paints and then stamped 3 flower heads.
These flower heads had more paint added to them.
I also stamped and cut out some stems. You can see here that I have cut out all the leaves and turned them into petals, adding the flower heads in the centre.
This makes for a quirky flower.
I glued the new flowers to the tag along with the stems, making sure to allow some of hte petals to overhang the edges of the tag.
I cut up the text and edges each piece with a black pen. These were then attached over the stem. placing them in a staggered pattern adds interest. Make sure the last line covers the end of the stems, this will ground them, otherwise they don't look finished off.
The tag itself is pretty cool, but to turn it into a greeting card I attached it to a linen white card blank . The petals still overhang, so to mail this card you would need to construct a custom made envelope.
I liked this layout so much I made a second card using different shades of paints on the leaves/petals.
