Make jewelry out of T-shirt scraps without sewing.
I am stuck in Maryland with no supplies - no sewing machine, no knitting needles, no crochet hooks, etc. I had already played with other people's no sew experiments, and I had T-shirt scraps. So why not use them?

You Will Need

  • How to make a choker necklace. T Shirt Rosette Choker - Step 1
    Step 1

Cut at least two long and thin T-shirt strips and pull them until they are string (my purple). You want to make sure that they are long enough to tie around your neck at a choker length with enough material to tie off.

    Step 2

Using a different color T-shirt (my grey), cut a thin strip of T-shirt (about 12" long and about an inch wide). Do not stretch this piece!

Starting at one end of the grey piece, start rolling the fabric. This is going to be your rose. To give your rose depth and interest, consider twisting fabric as a roll. You can roll tight in some areas and loose in others to give it character. You can always unroll and start again.

Once you have your rose the way you like it, gently thread a (purple) string the center. Tie it around the outside. In particular you want to tie down the piece leftover at the end. This is my no sew solution. In the end, some fabric glue might be nice to hold the rose together, but I had none.

Now that the rose is done, you just need to thread a piece to tie around your neck. I went through the loop that was holding the rose together. I hope the pic makes sense of this...

    Step 6

With the good end of your rose facing up, tie the neckline string to make the choker fit! I tied in the front so the string would hang down with the string used to tie off the rose.

For more drama, just tie extra strings around your neck letting the ends all hang down near the rose.
