A dream catcher made from swing catches
I have recently found out the technique of swing catches, which is a useful stitch to create subtle belt loops and button loops. (see my swing catch tutorial).

so I decided to take this one step forward and create something else - the dream catcher!

  • How to stitch . Swingcatcher - Step 1
    Step 1

    create a long string of swing catches, and wrap around the small metal hoop (this is to keep the circle sturdy)

  • How to stitch . Swingcatcher - Step 2
    Step 2

    once the hoop is completely covered, start wrapping the thread across the circle, to create the webbed effect of a dream catcher. if your original thread is not long enough, just tie it off and create a new thread to continue.

    create long loops at the bottom of the circle, which will represent the feathers of a dream catcher.

    Step 4

    once the full shape is finished, add beads to the centre of the circles and to the loops, and the dream catcher will be complete.

    Step 5

    finally, decorate an empty coffee jar and sew the swingcatcher to a lid of fabric to hang freely.
