Cut Out + Keep

Super Easy Sinus Remedy

Sometimes natural really is better (and yummy)!

I get sinus infections _every_ time I get a cold. For years, I needed antibiotics at least twice a year. Since I got this recipe from an acupuncturist, however, I have never once needed to take antibiotics for a sinus infection! I have also passed the recipe on to friends, who have had equally good results. Everyone is different, however, and of course, you should always see your doctor if you suspect an infection! But this recipe is soothing and yummy (and cheap), and it certainly won't hurt. And it can really help if you're waiting for a doctor's appointment or want to try to catch it early (although I've had good luck at every stage)! You need: 4 green onions or scallions 2 Tablespoons dry soybeans (NOT roasted)--you can find these in health food stores, often in the bulk section. 2 cups water

Description

Instructions

  1. Small projects 003 1315248201

Wash your green onions, then chop them up. You will use all parts, from roots to green tips.

  2. Small projects 006 1315248282

Throw into a small cooking pot with 2 TBS dried (NOT roasted) soybeans and 2 cups water.

  3. Small projects 014 1315248341

Bring to a slow boil. You will lean over this (be careful!) and breathe in the steam for about 20 minutes, or about as long as it takes for the broth to cook down from two cups to one.

  4. Small projects 016 1315248397

Strain the broth into a mug.

Enjoy! Drink this twice a day for as long as you have symptoms. Feel free to add salt or spices, if you would like, and you can also eat it like soup, if desired. Note--I have substituted a whole white onion in place of the green onions and miso paste in place of the soybeans until I was able to get to the store with good results. Feel better!
