  • How to make a half apron. Summer Skirt To Cute Apron! - Step 1
    Step 1

First look out and old skirt (or head to the charity shop /thrift store) It is better if it has a zip down the back but I think it would work on a side zip too.

    Step 2

Carefully unpick the stitching that connects the front to the back. Discard any thread left. (My skirt also had a underlayer so do the same with this too)

    Step 3

Neatly cut down the seams on the waist band to separate - The front of the skirt in this case will be the apron. I kept the back of the the skirt to use the fabric for other projects. My skirt also had a belt attatched to it so I removed that too. Had it have been long enough to tie round the back I would have kept it.

  • How to make a half apron. Summer Skirt To Cute Apron! - Step 4
    Step 4

Using your machine or needle and thread - fold and neaten the edges of the under layer by sewing back down (do not attach to the skirt its just to "hem" the side to neaten)Do this with the top patterned layer too. Trim any edges/ threads

    Step 5

Measure your ribbon so you have enough to tie around you waist in a bow. Sew your ribbon of choice onto the waistband - make sure you fold and sew down a little on both edges to stop the ribbon fraying. Tidy any loose threads from the ribbon.

And voila! - Keep a hold of the wash instuction tag and away you go!
    Hope you like it!

I was just about to throw away this great skirt that I had put mirrors on because it never fit quite right....time to rescue it from the charity shop pile. THANK YOU!
