Summer Bubble Dress

Want something cute to wear in the warm weather?

This was my first time sewing a dress without anyone's help! I wish I could say I did it ALL by myself, but no... I used a pattern from Simplicity. It's a dress with a sweetheart top and bubble skirt. To keep it light, I used a cotton/polyester blend fabric. My size based on the pattern was 12, which called for over 2 yards of fabric, I don't know for sure. I intended to use this as a "practice run" for a prom dress, but it turned out clean enough to wear in public. :) I must say, the GATHERING was the most difficult part, since my thread kept snapping – make sure you get strong thread! The zipper isn't actually in yet (I'll post a back view later), and I plan to add straps (either spaghetti or halter) and a belt.

P.S. If you mess up, don't be afraid to take out the stitches and redo! :)
