> First off, I used an old beginners wooden knitting needle as my cylinder as it was the right width, however you can easily get something similar from any craft or hardware store.
> I started by carefully whittling away using a stanley knife to create a 'tree trunk' effect.
> Once I was satisfied, I chose a nice fabric and a small bottle to cover (I went with an old herb one), which I filled with some ceramic balls to weigh it down. -
2
> Cut enough Fabric in a rectangular shape to come up and around the bottle, with a little extra as over hang and secure with some string.
> *Obligatory cat paw in photo* Get your mini sugru packs, I started with black and blue.
> Start rolling out long thin strips of the sugru. -
3
> Start adding the strips around the cylinder.
> Once you you are happy with the cylinder add a large ball of sugru to the top and start adding cocktail sticks to mimic a tree. -
4
> Continue with the strips, changing the width and lengths and alternating the colours as you go.
-
5
> Next step is preeeetty little flowers for the tree, I thought a cherry blossom look would go down nicely.
> Using red sugru make little balls, using a spare cocktail stick make a well in the middle of the ball and then flattened it, retaining where your 'middle point'.
> Then carefully, this is very delicate, take the cocktail stick and go underneath the 'pancake' making dents like a wheel, and use the cocktail stick to fan out the petals.
> When happy use a strip of the sugru wrapper to pick up the flower being really gentle and place it on your tree. -

> Keep going and once you are done, leave it to set for at least 12 hours.
> And ta-da! All done!
