Simple mini skirt with stretchy fabrics and a stripy kick!
I went to a friend's show last night and wanted to wear something different, so I decided to start cutting and sewing! I used some stretchy fabric I found in the bathing suit section of Jo Ann's. I had the 50% coupon, so I bought a yard for $7, but only used half for the design. My first attempt at cutting the proper size (I wasn't sure yet just how stretchy it was) was a complete bust. So, at my second attempt, I got the right measurements and sewed the edges all the way around. I used tailor chalk to make sure my lines were straight and even.
I had some stretchy striped fabric I got from walmart a while back. That was only $2/yard and I used very little in this design, so I'm sure the total skirt came to around $4.
I winged bringing the striped fabric into the design and it ended up becoming a piece that I could wear several different ways, which is great!
I threw a belt on and was on my way to the concert. ROCK!

Very cool!
I love stripes (and plaid and camo) and I love minis! I have a ton of them, but can't be bothered to shave my legs to wear any of them more than once... >.>
But this one is fun!
