Description

I made a whole bunch of these for the Christmas card swap we had here on Cut Out + Keep and I thought you might like to see how they were made.

Instructions

  1. Small 3350

Take a small piece of paper and fold it in half. Draw half a Christmas tree shape on one half.

  2. Small 3361

Take a pin and pierce throw the middle point at the very top of the tree (where the star would be), making sure to go through both bits of paper.

  3. Small 3362

Continue to pierce along the outline of the tree, at the points and mid-way down each branch.

  4. Small 3363

Open the paper up and your tree pattern should be on both sides. Take your card and position your tree paper template on it.

  5. Small 3364

Now use your pin to pierce around the tree outline and through the card this time.

  6. Small 3365

You should be left with a pricked outline of tree on your card.

  7. Small 3367

Now take a needle and thread it with green thread.

  8. Small 3368

Come through the top hole of the tree, from the back, leaving a tale of a few inches.

  9. Small 3369

Go down through the second hole, around the back and up through the 3rd hole.

  10. Small 3370

Continue this, going down, around and up, but add a seed bead when you come to a point on a branch.

  11. Small 3371

Continue this until you have stitched around the tree outline once.

  12. Small 3372

Now stitch around again, this time you should be stitching the opposite, so that you're filling in the gabs between your previous stitches.

  13. Small 3373

Stitch around the outline again and end by bringing the thread though to the front.

  14. Small 3374

Now take a star shaped sequin or bead and thread it on to the card, stitch back through it and take the thread to the back of the card.

  15. Small 3375

Tie the thread and the tail together, so that the stitches are secured tightly in place.

  16. Small 3376

Cut off any loose thread and voila! Merry Christmas.
