well, the pattern is from the spanish patternmagazine Patrones and originally by Dsquared. Don´t know if i like the back or not, the curves upwards and the lower centre back are in that pattern. I made the shorts from black and white striped cotton fabric i bought at Ikea. After i finished sewing, i dyed the whole shorts in black tea to get that brownish tone. As the centre front is shaped like a V it didn´t close properly and if i understood the instructions correctly there is no further closure than the zipper at centre front... to get rid of that ugly gap i added a strap made of this amazing brown printed fabric that looks like leather and a button on the other side. To repeat the brown fabric i added straps at the side seams to get a buttoned up look for the flipped up hem (as the shorts legs were a bit long). The buttons are all different, i thought it looks great and "antique" :D all in all it was a cheap project, i already had everything around. the Ikea fabric and the brown fabric weren´t the cheapest ones, but you won´t need even a metre of it. the buttons are courtesy of the grandmother of a dear friend. she always cut off the buttons of old clothing she didn´t use anymore and collected them, when she died the family gave all the sewing stuff to me. and yes, the legs have both the same length even it doesn´t look like in the photos... my boyfriend who took them just "forgot" to tell me that it looks slanted & wrinkled in that moment...
