Star Wars Bento Box

Star Wars Bento Box

About

Pay homage to everyone’s favorite space saga with a lunch that pits the dark side against a Jedi master. A few purchased pieces of equipment – a plunger cookie-cutter, light saber picks, and a Darth Vader ring – help this bento come together quickly. Two small orange moons nestled in the darkness of blueberry space add to the ambience.

Variations: Star Wars party supplies are easily found online, but if you are unable to locate then you can add Star Wars imagery to a bento box in other ways. Thread raspberries or green grapes onto a toothpick or wooden skewer to emulate a light saber, or add Star Wars stickers to a decorative pick to customize it.

You Will Need (13 things)

  • INGREDIENTS

  • 2 Mandarin Oranges , peeled
  • Blueberries
  • Sliced, soft whole-wheat Bread
  • Desired sandwich Fillings and condiments
  • Pretzel sticks
  • Sliced Cucumber
  • Mozzarella Cheese stick
  • EQUIPMENT

  • Single-tier Bento box with divider
  • Yoga plunger Cutter
  • Darth Vader Ring
  • Light saber decorative Tooth Picks

Steps (6 steps, 60 minutes)

  1. 1

Position the bento box divider near one end of the box. Place the mandarin oranges in a smaller section and fill in the gaps around them with the blueberries.

  2. 2

Use the plunger cutter to cut a shape from a slice of bread. With the bread still in the cutter, press down as hard as you can on the plunger to make the impression of Yoda’s face. The bread will be very thin after you stamp it. If it sticks to the cutter, peel it off carefully to avoid tearing the bread. Cut another shape from the slice of bread to use for the bottom of the sandwich. Don’t stamp this layer – it will be invisible once it’s in the box and the thicker piece of bread will help give the sandwich structure. Repeat the cutting and stamping process to make a second sandwich. Fill the sandwiches with your desired ingredients then stack them on top of each other in the upper right corner of the bento box.

  3. 3

Layer the pretzel sticks in the bento box between the divider and the sandwiches. If necessary, break some of the pretzels so that they’ll sit without overlapping each other.

  4. 4

Fill the remaining space with the sliced cucumber.

  5. 5

If the cheese stick is wrapped, remove the wrapping. Slide the cheese stick through the finger hole of the Darth Vader ring. Place it on top of the pretzels in the box.

  6. 6

Arrange the light saber picks in a criss-cross pattern on top of the cucumbers.
